What personal data we collect and why we collect it

 

By default, ESSAY CURE does not collect sensitive data about visitors and collects the personal data shown on a User Profile screen from registered users such as name, email address, personal account preferences; transactional data, such as purchase information; and technical data, such as information about cookies in order to serve our students.

 

Personal data means any information capable of identifying an individual.

 

Personal data does not include anonymized data. 

 

Sensitive data includes details about race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, health, genetic, and/or biometric data, criminal convictions and/or offenses.  ESSAY CURE does not collect sensitive data.

 

We may process the following categories of personal data about you:

  • Communication data that includes any communication that you send to us whether that be through the contact form on our website, through email, text, social media messaging, social media posting, comments, or any other communication that you send us. We process this data for the purposes of communicating with you, for record keeping, and for the establishment, pursuance or defense of legal claims. 
  • Customer data that includes data relating to any purchases of goods and/or services such as your name, title, billing address, delivery address email address, phone number, contact details, purchase details, and your card details. We process this data to supply the goods and/or services you have purchased and to keep records of such transactions. Our lawful ground for this processing is the performance of a contract between you and us and/or taking steps at your request to enter into such a contract.
  • Payment data is not visible to us nor stored on our servers. Payment information is provided directly and securely to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment information.

The source of this data is from our analytics tracking system. Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Our Akismet anti-spam service typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact form submissions are retained for customer service purposes, not marketing purposes.

 

Cookies

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile indefinitely. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

 

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

 

How we protect your data

We have security measures in place to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, altered, disclosed, or accessed without authorization including encryption, two-factor authentication, and staff training in data protection. We also allow access to your personal data only to those employees and partners who have a business need to know such data. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they must keep it confidential.

We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach as we are legally required.
