PLEASE READ:

  •  The student is responsible for keeping parents abreast of appointments and deadlines.
  •  Parents are welcome but not required to attend coaching sessions (most don't.) Parents have access to the document in the student’s Google Drive titled "00-Session Notes,” which we will update after each session so that parents can stay in the loop if they don't attend the Zoom session.
  •  We can’t do our jobs until/unless the student does theirs. This time next year, the student will likely be a legal adult and a college undergraduate. We steer students in the direction of showing, not telling, how college professors will expect undergraduate students to interact with them. For that reason, students communicate with and schedule sessions through the portal. If students need to reschedule, the calendar provides that option. If a student misses a meeting, it is forfeited.
  •  Although parents may call us anytime, we do not accept student text messages or phone calls. All correspondence with students is emailed to encourage student practice in professional business writing protocol. It also helps to eliminate the likelihood that tasks may get inadvertently overlooked by creating a paper trail.
  •  “ESSAY CURE business hours” are wonky. To accommodate student schedules, we work weekends and evenings Saturday - Wednesday and may not always be available during the rest of the world’s traditional business hours. We typically respond to emails and parent voicemails within 24-72 hours.
  •  Submit essays at least one week before college deadlines to ensure proper turnaround. We do our best to accommodate students on deadline — seriously. We haven’t been trick-or-treating since 2017! That said, we don’t encourage such last-minute work as it doesn’t foster the kind of thoughtful intention that these essays deserve. In general, the turnaround time for comments on documents is 72 hours. Sometimes we exceed this. If students wish to review comments and make changes before the next 1:1 Zoom call, documents should be submitted at least 72 hours in advance. If necessary, students have the option to reschedule the Zoom call.
  •  Parents, please be patient as your student works through the steps in the writing process. We encourage students not to share their essays with their parents until we have a fully developed draft. We want students to be able to gauge a genuine reaction from readers, beginning with their parents and trusted adults. If a parent has been reading the development of this essay from the beginning, they will become desensitized and unable to give their student this valuable and authentic feedback.
  •  If at any point we feel the student is veering toward a topic for an essay that we feel might be questionable, we will not hesitate to reach out to parents. Parents and students, please do the same. Please reach out immediately if you feel uncertain about the process or your progress.
  • 1:1 Zoom calls are recorded for customer service quality control and training purposes.
